Local area


In Gartocharn, the local village, you will find the Lomond View Shop and Petrol Stop, and the Post Office. Opposite this is the House of Darrach, a restaurant that serves good food all day, and a beautiful gift shop. Well worth a peek!

On a Friday you will find France Farm in Gartocharn, selling fresh fruit and veg.

More shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels can be found nearby in Drymen and Balloch.

Loch Lomond Shores

Loch Lomond Shores, 10-15 minutes drive away, has shopping for all in a peaceful setting right beside Loch Lomond with beautiful views. There is always plenty going on here, with different activities throughout the year. The famous Jenners has a store here too.

Also situated here is the Sealife Aquarium as well as a play area for the children.

Admire the otter statue, unveiled by Princess Anne in 2012 on the Royal Visit for the Jubilee celebrations and the 10th anniversary of Lomond Shores.

Balloch Country Park

Balloch Country Park is just a short drive away, where you can take lovely walks close to Loch Lomond. Also in the park is Balloch Castle, from which you can admire the fantastic view. There are lots of play areas and plenty of space to run about or relax. The park holds different activities throughout the year.

Cameron House Hotel

Cameron House Hotel is a lovely country hotel where you can stay or just visit. You can even fly aboard the Sea Plane, offering spectacular views and a birds eye view of Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. Bookings for the Sea Plane can be made at Cameron House Hotel.


A few minutes away from Duncryne Equitation and Trekking Centre sits the famous Duncryne Hill, also known as the Dumpling. A short walk up through the small forest and over the pathway takes you up the Dumpling, with breathtaking views over Loch Lomond at the top. A view not to be missed!

A short drive away to Rowardenan sits Ben Lomond with beautiful walks for different ability levels and scenic views of Loch Lomond. A challenge to climb to the top, guided walks are available through local groups.

Distillery and Brewery

Glengoyne Distillery at Dumgoyne near Killearn is just 10-15 minutes drive away, offering a wide range of tours.

Loch Lomond Brewery at Alexandria also offer a tour and have the new brewery shop selling a full range of bottles, party casks and gift packs.

Other Attractions

Loch Lomond Archers provide archery for all.
